Queensland summers are hot so we need to do everything we can to support our students and teachers to make the most of their time at school. A comfortable learning environment is crucial.
That's why as part of the 2019-20 State Budget, the Palaszczuk Labor Government committed an additional $100 million over 4 years for the priority air conditioning program.
Now the Queensland Government is fast-tracking $50 million in 2019-20 to deliver cooler classrooms for students and teachers.
For us in Pine Rivers this means that every school will be receiving full air conditioning in all learning spaces.
A current list of Qld schools included in this program is available here.
Exact timing of the air conditioning installations will be done on a school by school basis in conjunction with Departmental procurement processes. QBuild and the Department will prioritise local suppliers.
The cost and environmental impact of this project will be offset in part by the Advancing Clean Energy Schools (ACES) program - you can find out more about ACES here.
