New bus stop infrastructure for Moreton Bay
More than $382,000 is being invested by the Palaszczuk Government in bus stop upgrades in partnership with council across the Moreton Bay Region.
Member for Pine Rivers Nikki Boyd said five of the 25 bus stop upgrades for the Moreton Bay Region were in the Pine Rivers area.
“Three stops in the Pine Rivers area are planned for shelter upgrades including South Pine Road and Russet Burbank Parade at Warner,” Ms Boyd said.
“The Palaszczuk Government’s Bus Stop Shelter Program means more shade and sanctuary from the elements for passengers waiting for buses and local connections to trains.”
“Accessibility upgrades at existing stops are also on the works timetable for Gympie and Samford roads.”
Member for Kurwongbah Shane King said the Palaszczuk Government would help council deliver accessibility-compliant stops at Mackie and Youngs Crossing roads.
“The upgrades will create uniform, level concrete boarding areas and tactile surface indicators for easier travel by bus passengers of all abilities,” Mr King said.
“Bus stop improvements planned for the Moreton Bay Region are designed to boost comfort and convenience and encourage more local residents to make the switch to affordable public transport.
“It’s a win for public transport users and secures jobs and skills for the Moreton Bay Region.”
The Palaszczuk Government is contributing $20 million over four years in funding assistance to local councils for bus stops with more than 800 upgraded across Queensland last year alone.
