Linkfield link finished early

February 03, 2020

The Palaszczuk Government has finished works on the Linkfield Road overpass’ new on-ramp.

It gives drivers a dedicated left-turn lane onto the Gympie Arterial Road northbound, eliminating the need for motorists to merge with through traffic.

Member for Pine Rivers Nikki Boyd said the improvement will help ease congestion until the much larger $125 million Linkfield Road overpass upgrade and duplication is built.

“Late last year the Palaszczuk Government secured a commitment from the Federal Government to fast-tracked vital funding,” Ms Boyd said.

“We convinced the Federal Government to fast-track its $39 million for the duplication of the Linkfield Road Overpass, so we can deliver jobs and congestion relief sooner.

With the on-ramp now complete, the focus will now be on planning and design for the $125 million overpass upgrade.

"The Palaszczuk Government is tackling congestion as part of a $3.13 billion commitment for transport and roads in our area over the next four years.”
