Lights are go for Gympie Road

It’s green lights all the way for the Palaszczuk Government’s $4.5 million Gympie Road intersection upgrade.

New traffic lights will go live next week at the recently overhauled intersection with Dixon and Hall streets at Strathpine.

“This is an extremely busy hub with the shopping centre and station. And as many locals can attest, the old roundabout was prone to crashes and congestion,” Member for Pine Rivers Nikki Boyd said.

“With the new station upgrade full steam ahead and plenty of businesses calling this precinct home, this will be a much welcome upgrade.

The upgrade includes a new u-turn better connectivity to the station and shopping centre.

“It’s part of the Palaszczuk Government’s $3.13 billion roads and transport program for our region.”

Safety has also been bolstered with the removal of the unsafe right turns in and out of Hall Street.

Ms Boyd said all works are expected to be complete before the busy Christmas holiday rush got underway at the Strathpine Shopping Centre.
