Community projects will honour Queensland veterans

Refurbishing the Dayboro Avenue of Honour will continue to commemorate local servicemen and women who served in the Second World War. “This project will receive funding under the final round of the Queensland Veterans’ Memorial Grants Program” Nikki Boyd, the Member for Pine Rivers said.

“War memorials are treasured and dignified sites for communities to reflect on the sacrifice and service of Queenslanders.  I am delighted these worthwhile projects are receiving funding through the Queensland Veterans’ Memorial Grants Program.”

“It is important the memorials are preserved so that future generations can remember and honour the contribution of our servicemen and women.”

“Queensland is proud of its servicemen and women. The memorials that honour them are an important part of our landscape today, and will remain so into the future,” Nikki Boyd MP said

Specifically the project will Restore the Dayboro Avenue of Honour by installing 2 large raised garden beds filled with native trees and shrubs in large gaps where trees have died.  The nine smaller spaces to be filled with steel Digger silhouettes. Clean boulder and signage, a 10th Digger silhouette placed near to the boulder. The Dayboro RSL sub-branch will receive $20,000.
