Ref: Linkfield Rd, traffic congestion, state budget
In the last state budget Member for Pine Rivers, Nikki Boyd MP, secured a funding commitment to a new traffic slip-lane on Linkfield Rd at Carseldine.
“The slip-lane onramp extension will help ease congestion at a key choke point.” Ms Boyd said.
“It is a good short-term solution however we need it sooner rather than later.”
“That is why the Member for Aspley, Bart Mellish, and I have written to the Minister for Transport and Main Roads, Hon Mark Bailey MP today, to ask that those works be brought forward to the first half of next calendar year.”
Linkfield Rd at Carseldine is a key traffic choke point – a result of the population and business growth in Pine Rivers.
“As our community grows we need more traffic infrastructure. Long term this overpass will need to be duplicated however that will only happen with Federal investment.”
Ms Boyd welcomed Labor’s commitment to half fund the overpass and said that the Department was ready to get to work once it had more funding clarity.
“Elections are uncertain times – right now we only have a commitment from Ali France, the Labor Candidate. I have no confidence in the leaked possibility of a commitment from the chaotic LNP Government in Canberra.”
“While Canberra sorts itself out – we can get on with the job of fixing the slip lane onramp issue.” Ms Boyd said.
