Nikki Boyd MP excited to represent Samford

April 11, 2017

MEDIA RELEASE

11 April 2017

As you may be aware the Queensland Electoral Commission recently undertook a redistribution, changing the electoral boundaries in our local area. Under these changes I have been lucky enough to take in the Samford region, including the Valley, Mount Glorious, Mount Nebo and many other surrounding areas. These boundaries have been open to feedback and I thank those community members who have spoken to me about the inclusion of Camp Mountain and the name of the electorate, amongst other things. I expect a final position from the commission mid this year.

I would like to also acknowledge the hard work that my colleague Mark Furner MP has done over the past two years. I met with Mark recently and he has given me some great info about the local area, including some of the important issues and concerns. I can tell he has been a great community advocate and is sad to lose the community from his electorate.

My background is in working with children and community grass roots campaigning. I have already dedicated time to meet with people from the local community – including representatives from the Samford Progress and Protection Association, Samford State School, Samford State School P&C, Samford Archery Club, Samford Valley Chamber of Commerce, Mount Glorious Community Association, Samford Commons, Native Plants Queensland Samford Branch, and have organised to meet with many more over the coming weeks.

If you would like to have me along to a meeting with your local group or have a concern I may be able to assist you with, please don’t hesitate to contact my office. I look forward to working with you.
