Member for Pine Rivers Nikki Boyd has secured $3 million to fund an extension to the Bray Park State High School multipurpose hall.

Ms Boyd said she shared the good news with the school community today.

“The Bray Park High community have been calling for an extension to their hall for many years so I made it one of my top priorities to deliver on when I was elected.

“The school needs a fit-for-purpose venue to host assemblies, events and indoor sports.

“I know how important this facility is and I am proud to have delivered for our community.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the difference this hall makes to education at Bray Park State High School,” Ms Boyd said.

Ms Boyd said the Palaszczuk Government would also fast track $63,000 to install shade structures at Pine Rivers State High School.

“All projects are expected to go to tender next month,” she said.

“Our government is determined to give every student in every school the best possible education.

“That means delivering the teachers, curriculum and school facilities we need to give students the best chance at success.

“This project will also create vital jobs for local tradies and more opportunities for apprentices and trainees,” Ms Boyd said.

Bray Park State High School P&C President Kent Funnell said parents are absolutely delighted with the news of the significant investment in their school.

“We have been working hard in conjunction with the school leadership and surrounding community to help make this school a shining light in this region so it is exciting to now be getting a hall that will now match the current and ever-increasing quality of this great school.

“Our thanks extend to Ms Boyd for her valued regular attendance at our P&C meetings and her active support for this long-standing need in our school,” he said.

Bray Park State High School Principal Kirsten Ferdinands was the first to hear the great news from Ms Boyd today and couldn’t wait to be able to pass it on to the school community.

“We have been planning for the upgrade for over ten years.

“The need for a facility to meet both the educational and community demands has been greatly needed and has been the first priority in all school and P&C agendas regarding any future facility planning and wish lists,” she said.

“The upgrade will provide essential learning and performance spaces for HPE and The Arts – along with the provision of a much needed showcase space for all school community events, including Awards evenings.

“We are excited that as a school with a growing enrolment we can continue to work with our community to have this space also available for community groups to access as well,” Ms Ferdinands said.
