Eatons Crossing Road study to look at safety upgrades

June 30, 2018

Future upgrades and safety improvements to Eatons Crossing Road will be identified through an upcoming planning study.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said $600,000 had been allocated to consider safety and performance issues on the full length of the Eatons Crossing Road.

“The local community has raised concerns about the road's safety and performance and this planning study is the first step in addressing these issues,” Mr Bailey said.

“The planning will determine what improvements or upgrades are feasible to provide motorists with a safer road.

“Planning will consider capacity, safety and efficiency measures through a traffic flow study, options analysis and a comprehensive safety review.”

Mr Bailey said the study would allow Transport and Main Roads to develop an action plan of priority improvements with cost estimates and would allow further funding allocations to be considered.

“This funding demonstrates the Palaszczuk Government’s continued commitment to investing and improving our state-wide road network for the benefit of all motorists,” he said.

Mr Bailey said the planning study was expected to be completed mid-2019.

Member for Pine Rivers Nikki Boyd welcomed the planning study funding.

“This is fantastic news for the people of Pine Rivers,” Ms Boyd said.

“Anyone who travels on Eatons Crossing Road, particularly during peak periods, knows congestion is a huge issue there.

“The Department of Transport and Main Roads has focused on specific sections to improve safety and traffic flow but this planning study will look at the whole of Eatons Crossing Road.

“I’m pleased to see funding has been committed to strategically plan for the growing communities around this important connector road.
