Dixon Street Intersection Upgrade Means Less Traffic Lights on Gympie Road

MEDIA RELEASE

Member for Pine Rivers Nikki Boyd MP says the $3 million safety upgrade at the Dixon Street, Hall Street and Gympie Road intersection won’t mean more traffic lights, it will mean less.

“This will be a complete overhaul of the current layout along this stretch of Gympie Road in Strathpine,” Ms Boyd said.

“We are removing the roundabout and the two signalised pedestrian crossings either side, replacing all of these with a single signalised intersection.”

“I know how frustrating it can be to drive along that stretch of Gympie Road, particularly when it’s busy, that’s why it’s important, after years of governments failing to act, that we get this right.”

“I will work with the community, local businesses and any other stakeholders through this process to make sure the final result of this project is the best outcome for our community.”

“Ultimately, the proposal means better traffic flow, safer roads for drivers and safer crossings for pedestrians.”

“I’m really looking forward to seeing this long overdue upgrade come to fruition from much advocating from Council and myself as the Local Member.”

If any community members have concerns or questions about the proposed upgrade they can contact Ms Boyd at [email protected] or on 3448 3100.
