Access Upgrade for Farm Animal Rescue

Works to improve road user safety along Dayboro Road at the access to the Dayboro Transfer Station and Farm Animal Rescue (FAR) commenced in late January and are well underway.

State Member for Pine Rivers, Nikki Boyd, said the Department of Transport and Main Roads had  been working proactively with FAR to accelerate improvements to their access. Works to upgrade FAR’s access will be undertaken in conjunction with safety improvement works at the Dayboro Transfer station.

These works will enhance safety for motorists accessing the transfer station and FAR, as well as the residents who share the access, improve traffic flow and address the growing trend of crashes at the transfer station access.

Improvements will include provision of a dedicated lane for eastbound traffic turning right into the transfer station and FAR, road widening, new line marking at the above accesses to separate opposing traffic lanes, installation of a new guardrail on the eastbound traffic lane and improvements to road signage.

“Reduced speed limits, road shoulder and lane closures, short-term traffic disruptions and traffic controllers will be in place at times to assist and direct road users.

Access to the transfer station, FAR and residences will generally be maintained during the construction period.

Earth works and drainage works are continuing and the entire project is scheduled for completion in May, weather permitting.” said Ms Boyd.

The upgrade will address the emerging trend of accidents at the right hand turn into FAR and will result in the access meeting current safety standards.
